I’ve been meaning to do a wrap up after each WOD but truth be told my hands have just been too stressed to move across a keypad and trust me when I tell you after 14.4 I’m lucky I can still hold a cup of coffee in my hands much less type. SO anyway, on to the wrap up for 14.2!

14.2

14.2 or the WOD of ripped hands as I like to call it consisted of the following:

Every 3 minutes for as long as possible complete:

From 0:00-3:00

2 rounds of:

10 overhead squats (65 lb W/ 95 lb M)

10 chest-to-bar pull-ups

From 3:00-6:00

2 rounds of:

12 overhead squats

12 chest-to-bar pull-ups

From 6:00-9:00

2 rounds of:

14 overhead squats

14 chest-to-bar pull-ups

Etc., following same pattern until you fail to complete both rounds

This WOD seriously challenged most of our athletes especially the novices who had yet to get a successful Chest to bar pull up during normal Workouts! Others had trouble with the Overhead Squats to begin with. Needless to say Castro was definitely thinning the herd with this one. What we did see was a lot of the athletes persevere and triumph and get PR’s when they thought they couldn’t. Call it a miracle, call it the victory of the human spirit of determination and will power over defeat or just call it “bad mind’, but many of our athletes got their first Chest to Bar Pull Up or Overhead squat during this WOD. As usual the celebration thereafter was simply epic. For some of us it was an opportunity to take stock of some of our weaker points in what ought to be basic CrossFit movements and we walked away with our goals set for next year’s Open Games: get Chest to Bar Pull ups (and get them efficiently); work on strength and Squat depth (and mobility); and try not to rip hands!!!

So hopefully tomorrow I can fill you guys in on the excitement that was 14.3 and as some of our athletes still have to do 14.4 I’ll post that one after the last score has been submitted! Stay tuned for updates!
